Need Mechanical injection kit
I have a 2.7 CIS and am going to build it up to RS specs. First order of business is to locate a mechanical fuel injection setup as I hear that the CIS wont work well.
Also, since the motor has about 130K, should I replace the case, or simply do the RACEWARE studs and Timezerts? I have heard that there is an aluminum 2.7 case, but have yet to confirm that. Ideas would be much appreciated here as I know so little and am about to go into DEEP water$... |
I have no idea if this applies, but I have a complete MFI from a 2.4L '73T (minus the cam drive). Surely it is not the same as the famed 2.7RS but maybe can be adjusted or modified. Someone out there may know.
A friend of mine has a '76 with a 2.7RS spec motor running Webers. This is a very nice setup you might consider if the MFI proves a bit mutch. |
You might want to give Gus Pfister at Pacific Fuel Injection Service (San Fran) a call. He won't charge you anything to answer a few questions...after that, hang on to your wallet, but he's THE MFI guru.

try my mechanic... he's built several RS clones, and was a factory Porsche employee during the 70's.
Andy Bittenbinder 412 366-6165 in the pittsburgh area. Tell him Dave Cardone referred you, and good luck! I'd like to stick an RS motor into my 912E some day. Imagine that with a 923 gearbox!!!! |
Thanks fellas - I will make some call this comming week.
Anyone ever hear of an aluminium 2.7 case? Do I really need to replace the case if the timezerts and RACEWARE studs are installed? I appreciate all info here! |
you may also want to read the information on the Paulweir.com website. There is an extensive explanation on the rehabilitation of the 2.7 Magnesium case using new studs, inserts, and a linehone.
