Pelican Parts What about my car?

So what about my 911SC? Assuming that I get around to finish restoring it, painting it, and putting it back together, what's it worth?

- 1982 911SC
- Stock, but with extra tail and spare decklid
- New paint job (it will have when I sell it)
- New interior, carpet, new headliner (what a pain)
- New windshield seals
- Rebuilt 3.0L (1200 miles on engine)
- New CAT
- New Carrera Oil cooler with fan
- Turbo valve covers
- Numbered temp gauge
- Short shift kit with extra shifter with non-short shift kit installed
- Black interior and gunmetal grey exterior color
- Cambermeister, Turbo Tie rod kit

AND BEST OF ALL,

The car as featured in 101 Projects for your Porsche 911.

I'm thinking that if the car is completely cherry and fully restored (used to be owned by a cocaine dealer), that I might be able to get $20K considering it's a 'famous' car...

Am I dreaming?

-Wayne

How many miles has it done, total?

Is there still Coke in the door cavities? It might add to the resale in certain circles...

Does seem a little high for an 82 SC, but if the quality of the paint/ interior matches the quality of the engine rebuild who knows! Add in the celebrity status (might want to wait for the book to come out) and it might even be worth more!
Unless the car has super low orig miles, on an 82 with fresh components mileage is nothing and condition is everything. Who believes the mileage on an 82 anyway (without supporting documents).
BTW- gunmetal grey is my favorite color on a 911.

Wait a minute. Three days ago you were ready to become a broker, now we have to tell you what a P car is worth?

Wayne, I hear this type of car is commonly available at Pomona for $6000-$8000. Sorry, couldn't resist. -- Curt

I would think $20K is optimistic...maybe for a totally low miles concours car. I think to the right person (ie someone on this board) it is worth more money because you and the car are a known quantity. "In the wild" you'd be facing many of the usual stigmas ("repainted? did you wreck it? How come you had to replace the interior? Water damage?") But your honest face and boyish good looks would probably melt the heart of the most hardened buyer.

So what are the total miles anyway?

Maybe you need to get Britney Spears to sit in the car, advertise
with the pic, but advertise only that it was "celebrity owned"? Hell, as a published author, Wayne, you're a celebrity, right???

auto value

Wayne, have you thought of a trade...like a lot at Big Bear or a 55 speedster ....sometimes you receive more value if both parties are interested in the transaction and the taxes are gone as well.
Just a thought
steve and thanks for a GREAT site

A wealthy widower in my town has a couple just like that stored in her barn. Said I could have them for free - all I have to do is schedule a time when she's around so I can pick them. I think she said she also has a free GTO if anyone else is interested.

Now all I need is a tow truck driver ..........

I talked it over with Leland, and we'd like to part it out.
