OIL viscosity and leaks?
I just changed my oil last week, I was running 15-50 Mobil 1, I put in 0-40 Mobil 1 and now I'm leaking oil.
Would the this change in viscosity cause the leak?

Where is it leaking from?
Why would you run 0-40 in CA? In your climate, I would run 15W40 DINO oil. I like it because it's a Diesel application designed for high heat and pressure. That's what I use Spring and Fall here in BC with 20W50 during July/August.

It seems to me that if it leaks with low viscosity synthetic it will also leak with any other oil... maybe not as much. Might make the difference between weeping and dripping though?

I think it is possible that the change you made would make existing leaks noticable especially after a good long run when you let the engine warm up a bit
