Today is that special day!!!!

I am closing on my selection of 911. I decided to purchase a 1991 964 Carrera 4 Cabriolet.

Here are a few pics from the seller-

As for options this car has tons. I especially like the heated seats this time of year. It is a nice car with a couple of minor bugs I need to iron out. They were negotiated out of the asking price. The car sat for several months so the battery is flat and is being replaced today. The seller who is a dealer, I believe this car is a consignment, has no clue about these cars. In a sense I felt I had some minor advantage. This car has a full service history. When a couple of the gremlins (minor) popped up I easily negotiated to where I wanted to buy. I quickly referred to the service invoices and reminded the saleperson the costs to repair a 911.

I hope to do as many repairs as I can with the help of this board and the Rennlist folks.

Very exciting...........

Welcome and congrats on what looks like a very nice 964 !

What is the color called ?

I canīt figure out that ugly rear snorkel light though. Is it an American fashion gadget ? Or yet another one of your safety rules ruining the perfect shape of the back end of a 911.

Looks great!

I'm a fan of the snorkel third brake light.

What type of gremlins are present?

-Matt

Looks like a beaut! Tell us the motor is dry underneath and we'll be happy for you.

As for the gremlins I have 3.....

1. Seat belt and airbag light is on (common issue)
2. Bad battery. Hopefully the new one will work or we will look at the alternator.
3. Front hood cable did not function the second time I used it. I think it slipped out. Should be an easy fix.

As for the motor being dry....it appears to be. I believe it takes a few weeks to really determine this. Either way a little oil is ok with me.

Outside of these issue its even more minor things. A few body seals could be replaced as well as a headlamp gasket......

87K miles. If the paint, tire and interior condition is an indication of how the former owner cared for this car it should be a peach.

Service was performed fairly regularly so I will take it from here and make a 90% car 110%.....I tink this is were some of the fun is anyway.

Welcome aboard! Looks like a really beautiful car.

On the dry motor, I think Terry was referring to early 964 cylinder head sealing issues.

Where in Mass are you?

Yea thats all set. This car has 87K miles on it. If the gasket issue was a problem it would reveal itself rather quickly.

2or3 more hours it will be in my driveway.....
