What for? Paint? Collision? Early car restoration? There are a few good ones and a couple to stay away from. But, give up some details and you'll get specific comments.

Some others have had direct experience with local shops. I have a b-in-law that works in a high end shop in Laguna Niguel. I can tell you that most shops that do the rather new and high end cars do a nice job.

Call Hergisheimer Motors (sp?) in Lake Forrest for a referal as well as the ones you will get here. I don't see why you need to drive to LN, but if you want to, PM me for the number of the shop.

Quality Craft in Huntington Beach is who Andial used to use for body repair & paint work so you might consider them. Rob Lesser was the founder/owner but I don't know if he still owns the business or not.

Caldwell Auto Body in Lake Forest is another to consider. They do body & paint work for Vision Motorsports and some other Porsche shops in South Orange County.

Hukill Paint & Graphics subleases space from Vision Motorsports in Lake Forest, but Chris normally does real high end race cars, airplanes & boats along with custom painting helmets. He is a hop, skip and jump away from Caldwell, so you could kill 2 birds with 1 stone...

Just some sources to check out and all not too far away from you in Irvine...

Ralph

I'll second Quality Craft in Huntington Beach. Right now my car is there for a restoration. Go see Ray, the owner, and tell him Chris Gilroy sent Ya. I'll post some pics of the process.

Cheers

If you want incredible workmanship and are willing to travel a bit, take it to Automotive Innovations and Restorations in Van Nuys. The owner is a "Porsche guy," and frequents this board (KevinP73 is his handle). Kevn has done work for several Pelicans, and everyone raves about his craftsmanship. No personal experience (fortunately), and YMMV.

I think it would be worth the time and effort to travel from the OC to Van Nuys to at least let him look at the problem and give you his thoughts (and an estimate).

Da Kine auto body on Western, in Stanton? I think its Stanton, could be Garden Grove. The owners name is Andy and i've known him since high school,20+ years. He has done several of my cars over the years and does a really nice job. My Porsche has had multiple pieces replaced, rear fenders rolled, bent the body twice, and a new front clip. You would never know.

In January my Porsche is going in for a complete repaint.

Specialized Coachworks in San Juan 493-4750 They restored a '70 911S for me to concours status. Tom has been around Porsches since the '70's.
