Valves Gasket
I need to readjust my valves, as well as renew the gasket. The existing are not leaking. The valve covers are the turbo model. There seems to be a big selection to choose from, and the prices vary widely - Pelican has a kit at 214.00, Tweeks at 72.50, Automotion at 75.00, and a dealer in Montreal 250.00 (all say with hardware). I`m confused. Can someone help me understand this wide price fluctuation? Thanks Dan.

Dan,
Generally speaking, a 'conventional' oil change/valve adjustment gasket 'kit' is around $20. For the 'turbo-style' exhaust valve covers, that will include a graphite-compound gasket with a green silicone bead, and a complete set of sealing rings and slf-locking nuts. The $72 gaskets from Tweeks or Automotion are the RealGaskets solid red silicone gaskets only, no hardware ... but they are supposed to be permanently reusable! If you don't have leaks, I would suggest staying with the factory OEM sets. I suspect that the $214 set you cited from Pelican was a complete engine gasket set! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

The Pelican Parts valve cover gaskets are listed under "911 & Carrera cylinder heads and valves" - the regular gaskets are $21.40 and the ones with green bead are $30.20.
The $214 set is a complete engine rebuild set. |
