Engine Mount, name that part!

So in my teardown I need to replace the part circled in RED..
What the heck is it? I couldn't find it easily in the PP catalog. I have a huge crack in mine, it goes about half way across.

It's just the bell unit, the crossbrace is fine. It's for an 88 3.2.

Thanks!

looks like 930 115 017 09 for a cab

I'm guessing you'll be taking that to a welder after seeing that price? good luck

eskimo 01-04-2007 02:58 PM

Found it in the catalog..
That's what I was looking at before. I went, !#@OMG!@##, this piece of tin right, no way in hell is it $500!!!

So, would a cabrio mount and cross brace fit in a targa/coupe?
I see one on ebay right now for much less.

Early_S_Man 01-04-2007 03:08 PM

The cabrio mounting variant is what you have pictured above! The coupe version is items #1 and #6 in the PET diagram.

If you call that console and cross-mount 'tin' at over 3 mm thick ... what do you call heavy-duty fabricated steel parts???

eskimo 01-04-2007 03:12 PM

The PET diagram got me far enough to find the 87-89 coupe-targa part.. Not AS expensive as the cabrio box, but pretty close.

Motor Mount Bracket, 911 Turbo Coupe & Targa (1987-89)
Brand: Genuine Porsche [Photo]
930-115-017-08-OEM $476.25

In truth I can't fathom why a cabrio brace and box wouldn't work fine in a targa.. Should I try the ebay route??

A salvage yard can source one of those for you no problem. That is of course if you can't have the cracked one welded.

Oh trust me.. I'm supporting Wayne. :) :) -Just not TODAY.
Actually in this thread I see that the mounts are interchangable.

I question whether I want spring back there.. I'll look into the welding route.

In that topic you linked, they're talking about the cab/clubsport motor mounts at the end of the crossbar that the crossbar bolts to, which are mounted in the body.

Still, i'd be willing to bet that you can use a coupe motor console in a cabrio? There had to be some reason like Glenn/island911 mentioned like harmonics or vibrations for using the damped console. Somebody will chime in with more specifics than I.
