2001 911 Rattle?
Well I'm trying to find out some info for my parents.. They're looking at buying a 2001 911 Carrera with about 40k miles on it, they went down and saw it today. Unfortunately I'm getting this info second hand and can't tell you guys my interpretation on it. Anyway...My dad said the cats had a rattle and that this was a 'known' problem or so the dealer claims. Is this common? He (the dealer) also claimed that Porsche covered these in some 100k warranty.. Is that true? There was also a clicking coming from the front rack...Is this a precursor to something major, or something a little lube can take care of?
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot...The 996 forums looks a bit dead and I'm trying to get them the info as fast as I can... From what I've heard Pelican was the only forum I was to trust with a good answer. A few quick searches didn't really turn up anything, reason for a new topic. Thanks in advance. |

Rennlist.org has a more active 996 forum.
I assume the dealer selling the car is not Porsche. Having him tell your dad that this is common and sometimes covered under warranty sends my BS meter off the scale. If your dad really wants this car, have him take it car to a competent Porsche mechanic for a complete PPI. |
