				valve adjustment.. car wouldn't start

I performed my first valve adjustment on my 86 using the "backside" method. Rechecked them 4 times to make sure and on the 4th time, the were all set. When I finally got everything put back together, I went to start it and it would turn over but not fire up. I quickly remembered I forgot to hook up the ground wires that connect to the intake manifold. I hooked them up and tried again... no go. I disconnected the battery and started poking around the fuse/relay block in the trunk and found a relay that wouldn't come out. The rubber boot had melted to the relay. I was looking for the fuel pump relay, but it appears the 86 doesn't have one, just the DME as far as I can tell. Anyway, I repaired the rubber boot and installed a new relay. The car fired up right after that. The relay I fixed is labeled "Booster Fan". I have no idea what that is. The heater fan in the engine comp runs with/without that relay.

Anyway, I plan on getting a new DME relay this week just in case. Since I attempted to start the car without those ground lines connected, could that cause the DME or relay to act flaky then reset once I disconnected the battery? Any other ideas? Thanks!
