Targa Top Restoration
Can anyone help with advice on how best to repaint/anodise the black targa bar which has faded?
Thanks in advance J [This message has been edited by Jack K (edited 10-29-2000).] |

I would be interested in any feedback on this too, as my targa bar is a bit faded after a full summer of Ohio sun.

I repainted mine at the beginning of the year. I cleaned the bar with acetone. Taped off the edges and covered the rest of the car with sheets. I used Wurths black paint in a rattle can. Gave it a couple coats and was done. I actually had the car with me at a concours (did not enter) and everyone that saw it did'nt know until/unless I told them. They said it looked great.

Thanks for your response. Did you strip it back to bare metal/aluminium? [I wonder which it is!?] If yes, I guess it would need a primer coat. It sounds like you got away without that. J |

No. I didn't strip the old paint off. It had just started graying a little. I figured I'd try this first and it seems to be working.
