HELP - Balljoint is stuck in strut.

Been pounding like crazy, it's not coming out. I have removed the strut pin that holds it in place, the cotter pin and the castelated nut. The ball joint should now be free. It's hard to pound on it without hitting the a-arm.

Should I get some heat on it?

Ulrich

Definitely use heat. I sprayed tons of PB Blaster on the nut and then heat -- rinse, lather, repeat...

I levered my A-arm down to free the ball joint from the arm, then swung the strut out - just one tap with a hammer and the joint dropped out of the strut. Mine was really badly rusted too. This may be a silly question, but have you got the strut free from the arm? The A-arm will put strong upward pressure on the bottom of the ball-joint.

Eddie,
That's it exactly. Once I got the a-arm out of the way I was able to just twist the balljoint out. Thanks.
