synthetic oil change over - no P content

have an SUV with 40k miles and been using dino oil since new but want to change to full synthetic. Will this change over cause engine seals to leak? or is this engine still "young enough"? have heard in the past that synthetics should not be used in older engines because of its detergent additives and will cause some engine seals to leak...

Synthetic is the only way to go provided your motor is in good shape and not leaking now.

Synthetic oil will NOT make a motor leak, no matter if it is old or new. Oil leaks will appear only because of the vastly superior flow in syn's found some lose areas in your engine. Dino oil gets thick with use and low temps and can not begin to flow as well.

I use fully synthetic Castrol 0W-30 in my 84 911 (141000 km) and have experienced no oil leaks at all.
