Change old style flag mirrors to new
 

I have an 83 SC that I changed the old style single motor flag mirrors to the new style two motor type. A search of this board showed others that did the same and had wiring questions that were never resolved. Has anyone made this change and figured out what wiring needs to be changed to make the mirrors work? Mine will move side to side but not up and down- this is by just plugging the harness together inside the mirror housing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Frank

I don't have the full answer but I believe the switches may not be compatible. The older switch has an internal contact to operate the clutch solenoid inside the mirror while your new mirrors are looking for separate reversible outputs for each motor.

I have wiring diagrams for the original style, and will check to see if there is any info on the later set up.

Thanks for the reply. I thought that it was probably the switch internals. Does anyone out there have a late model mirror joy stick switch that they want to sell? Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks, Frank Tag
