997 GT3RS and Carrera GT meet on track
Thought you ladies and gents might like to see a few pics from a trackday I attended at Silverstone here in the UK as a spectator/passenger today. Present and correct were two 997 GT3 RSs, one at 420 miles old and the other 700 miles. Also present; well the pics tell it all. I didn't bother with pics of the Ferraris and Gallardos; didn't really notice them amidst the stunning Porsche presence.
Great day, apart from a major off for a good buddy who really did not deserve such bad luck. He is fine thankfully but the car, a 460bhp 964 C4 Celebration with the Ruf RCT kit, is not so well. Will take some work to repair. I did some pax laps in the orange car and was fantastic, those ceramic brakes are incredible and the car has monumental grip, despite the very low temps and at times damp conditions here today. Happy to report that everything you've read about the 997 GT3 RS being an epic ride is true, it is planted in the extreme and a superb return to form ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for posting! Great pics.
The RS models by Porsche are my favorites among cars. And the color schemes are very becoming. For some reason my favorite is the 964 RS. Perhaps since it retains the classic shape very well without large wings and other fancy parts. Just plane business.

Stunning car. I just finished reading that the GT3RS is based on the Carrera 4 body which is an 1 1/2" wider then the standard GT3. Apparently, this makes the car even more stickier.

Ah, the GT3RS. I want that car! Heck, I want those tires. I understand they are about the grippiest street tire ever made.

Impressive turnout of hardware!
I love the contrasting orange/black GT2RSs- side be side.

Thanks for the great pics John. And congrats on getting married!
Love the blacked out wheels that porsche is starting to use again. Reminds me of the fuchs.

![]() The GT3 RSs are only a few weeks old, and when they were first delivered, the proud owners brought in a pro photographer to snap them in as new condition, together with another GT3 and a Gallardo. Very nice: ![]() The Carrera GTs belong to two very approachable guys, both long time Porsche fans who worked hard to get what they have. Both very tasty drivers, one can sideways a 911 like few others (and at three-figure speeds), and the other has a collection of Porsches any one of us would honestly be staggered by. What about a 906, an ST, a Gp 4 2.4S, a *lightened* 993RS, a GT2R and a streetable 962! I was there with my little SC Cab that wouldn't pay for a wheel from a Carrera GT, but I still came away with a huge smile on my face (though sad for my buddy). Some days you really feel like it's just one big happy family ![]()
