Rear View Mirror Placement
My recently purchased '79 SC had its windshield replaced by the PO, and he never reinstalled the rear view mirror. I'm getting ready to reattach it but don't know how far down from the top weatherstripping edge it should go. Could someone please measure theirs and post the distance?
many thanks! Evan

Although the factory probably had a standard dimension for placement, I think it depends on your height. If you are tall in the saddle this is your chance to get it out of the line of forward vision. Mine was too low for me and when I replaced the windshield I mounted the mirror at the highest point possible without interfering with the visors.

Right after I brought mine home, the mirror fell off. I re-glued it a little higher. Make SURE you don't interfere with the visors. I regret it every day.
Also, by mounting it higher, I get to look down out the back window, so my recommendation is to keep it in the original place, which is really low.

Great - I'll think about what both of you have said before reattaching. I am pretty tall at 6'3". Appreciate the responses!
