Uh oh
I'm not sure what I hear...let's just post it again.
I start my car cold (it's chilly in LA this time of year) and for the first 20 or 40 seconds, you can hear the chain moving in the back of the car. It's not a terrible dragging sound...but you can definitely HEAR IT. It goes away after the car is warmed up...am I, pardon my Arabic, F'ed? ------------------ Kurt B 1984 911 Carrera Cabriolet 75 914 1.8 |

I would not run the motor at all - that is to say I would not even start it if I suspected chain problems. Disconnect the coil & battery to avoid even a slight accidnet! Have your wrench come over or have it towed - very cheap insurance, provided your motor is still together...
Best of luck my friend! ![]() |

Yeah, the first time the chain slips or slops around enough to cause a valve to hit a piston at speed you'll severely regret it to the tune of $3000 or more --- been there, done that, don't ever want to do it again!

Had the very same noise in mine. Ordered the carrera tensioners right away. Had a partially collapsed tensioner and two broken chain ramps on the driver side. Better look into it "yesterday".
