[SC] How to adjust mixture and idle??
I have an 80 SC with CIS and the O2 sensor long since removed. I know the "proper" way to adjust the mixtrue is wth an EGA, but I want to try thr "ear" method first.
Where is the adjustment screw? CW=rich CCW=lean ?? How/where do you adjust the idle? This information is not covered in Haynes. Thanks. Ron Milliet Petal, MS 87 325is http://www.dcslink.com/bmw3/index.htm 86 325e 80 911 SC http://www.dcslink.com/porsche/index.htm |
Mixture, you need a 3 mm allen wrench that is about 3-4" or so. Insert it from the top between fuel distributor and large boot, there is a small hole. Turn clockwise to richen, counter-clockwise to lean.
Idle speed, spring loaded screw on throttle body. (Driver's side) Clockwise, lowers idle, counter-clockwise, raises the idle. |
very well said! FRNG.

Yeah, what "rfng" said and some minor extra notes:
...a special mixture allen is sold by Porsche specifically for that --- the mixture screw is very sensitive to downwards pressure when adjusting it, let it settle between turns ... and the idle screw is big (about 3/4 inch around) --- you can't miss it and you can turn it easily by hand --- don't bother with a screwdriver --- great when you're out driving and you haven't yet solved a case of the "hunts" and your engine idle suddenly goes too low or too high. http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/eek.gif [This message has been edited by tog (edited 11-10-2000).] |
