Cabriolet Top Liner

The exterior of my '84 cab top is in good shape, but the interior lining is worn out. Material is flaking off and bits of fabric fly off when I drive the car.

Is there a solution other than a new top $$$ ?

I was thinking of removing the top and taking it to an automotive upholstery shop.

All economical suggestions welcome.

I'm not quite sure I understand. Do you mean the liner is old, or the inside lining of the exterior top is bad?

On my 86, I replaced the inside liner without removing the top.

I'll post a picture, sorry, I should have done that to begin with. I am vocabulary challenged.

I replaced mine also. I bought some semi stretch material and some spray fabric adhesive . Cut it a little larger than needed and you can tuck in the excess. Great results for under 10 dollars !

Hey Harold - can you take a picture of that? I also have a "challenged" headliner

JeremyD , hopefully I have attached some pics of my diy headliner. The color is actually black . Certainly not perfect but way better than what was there ! I just kind of threw it up there. I am sure you could get much better results if you took your time . I also posted pics of rewrap of steering wheel ,I did take my time on that ! For 10 bucks I may try to improve on 1st halfassed attempt at headliner. Cheers

I had my headliner replaced this summer. The shop used some leftover material to make it and looks great! Any good upholstery shop should be able to do it!
