Kaminari Targa Top - will it fit behind the seats or in the trunk?

I is time for me to rebuild my Targa Top. I would like a hard top. Could someone tell me if the hard top maid by Kaminari will it fit behind the seats or in the trunk?

Thanks,
Arron

I put my Targa top behind the seats without folding it up. The same size hardtop should fit the same way.

As a new Targa owner I'm wondering if it is better to not fold up the top?

In my case, my Targa top was doing fine until I started to fold it. I wanted the top off but I did not know that it would fit behind the seats.

The stitching on the edge trim fell apart and now the edge trim is falling off. The inside lining has pulled away and foam dust is falling out. None of this started until I begin to fold the top and place it in the front trunk.

I like the idea of placing the Targa top in the trunk, but the cost of a rebuild is around $800 vs. $500 for a hard top shell. Also I will feel more secure as people can cut their way into my car.

My top has ripped recently but its been good for 20+ years. It only started falling apart from some of the chemicals I put to clean it and the excessive folding. I used Armor-all (biggest mistake) and while it looked good for a couple weeks, it then completely dried the top out and ripped at the folds. But that being said folding the top and taking the car for a spin is the greatest thing about a Targa.

As you see in the pictures in my previous post, I used to put the top behind the seats. But after doing complete rebuild and seeing what was inside I have gone back to folding and putting it on the back seats.

The inside panels are made of thin aluminum and that is what the top rests on when you stand it up behind the seats, you do not want to bend these panels.

Also the top was made to fold, that's what makes the Targa the most enjoyable 911 to drive on a sunny spring day. However I think it's best not to fold it if its cold outside, it seems like thats when my old top was most damaged, when it was folded up when it was cold.

Folding will leave a few wrinkles, that will smooth out after being in the sun a little while.

Now someone tell me, what is this Kamanri top that this post was originally about?

Can”Ēt decide, save money and security vs. folding and easy storage.

So that's the same top by JMPRO sold by our host, correct? It's the same image, anyway. Anyone know?
