Here is a picture of the red and black today, and this white stuff on the rail, not sure what that is in SoCal.

I live in Minnesota and am an expert on the white stuff that is on the rail. It is called frost. It is what happens when the moisture in the air condenses on a surface that is below 32 degrees f. On a good day in January in Minnesota it gets to a temp. where we see frost. On a bad day it snows.

Since you live in So. Cal., I should explain that snow is what happens when the moisture in the air at high altitudes gets so cold that it crystallizes, becomes heavier than air and falls to the ground. The result is fluffy white stuff, similar to the frost you noticed on the rail, but which falls on everything and results in the city, county or state highway departments dropping loads of their white stuff, NACL, on the roadways. As a result of that, my baby sleeps from November to April, meaning that I can barely remember what it looks like to see a collection of Porsches like that gathering for a spirited run on some nasty back roads.

What a nice group of cars. Only two and a half months to go . . . .

Now you made me jealous. I just spent a few minutes in the garage gazing at and talking to Baby and assuring her that spring is just around the corner and that soon we will be on the road again.

In the mean time, it is BBQ ribs, a nice red wine and a roaring fire to keep me company as I watch the AFC championship game and dream dreams of spring and the open (salt-free) roads.
