Where's the stop-light switch located?

Guys,

I'm doing electrical troubleshooting on my '87 Carrera. Fuse#4 keeps blowing when the parking lights are turned on. It controls the front and rear parking lights. According to electrical diagram, the next stop in the circuit is the stop-light switch. But I can't locate the darn thing. I know 2 possibilities are:

Mounted on the master cylinder - did't see it
Next to the brake pedal cluster - didnt see it there either.

Where is it and what does it look like?
Thanks

It is mounted on the master cylinder. As you look at the master cylinder, they (2) will be to the left. You might have to remove some of the shrouds over the defroster ducting to see them. The Porsche replacement is about $14, the equivalent VW part is about $4.

Boris,

The brake light switch is located on the front of the master cylinder. Looking at the master from the front with the trunk open, it is on the right side. It may be coverd by a rubber hose. Part number is 113 945-515 H, and it is a 2 pole switch.

Good Luck!
