Timing Light
Are there any special things to watch for when using a timing light on a carbureted 911? I havent used one in so long I think I may have forgotten. Would someone mind going over it for me. Thanks.

Basics are:
-Red clip on + (positive) side of battery -Black clip on body ground (- negative) -Big square (or whatever kind you have on your light) sensor clip goes around #1 spark plug wire ... start engine -loosen distributor clamp hold down bolt (just enough to be able to move it by hand but not enough that the engine will move it by itself -aim the light at the fan belt pulley while running the engine -turn the distributor slowly until the vacuum advance mark lines up with marker on the engine block (sorry, can't remember what this looks like) -when lined up as you want it tighten the distributor clamp hold down bolt ... go enjoy driving that beauty until exhaustion sets in ... have a beer http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by tog (edited 11-14-2000).] |
