replacing bumperettes
Has anyone replaced bumperettes on their car? Does the bumper have to be removed or can it be done in place? Also anyone know the size of the nuts holding them on 9mm, 10mm, etc. Thanks

they can be done in place just reachup under the back bumperand unbolt them. unless you have a turbo it's pretty tight back there. but a regular carrera is pretty easy.

13 mm nuts onthe back side of the bumper. Be careful and soak them as best you can with Blaster PB or other product. they are usually corroded unles the car has been kept dry it's entire life.

Are you replacing them because they look bad or are they rusted?
|
I am replacing due to cuts and gouges on both from P.O. Thanks for response so far.

do yourself a favor and remove the muffler. makes the job worlds easier. if not you will have trouble getting the propper angle for leveraging the bolts and if the bumperettes are at all rusty inside chances are the studs will just break and spin around if you put much stress on it.

When you get them off if the light mounting plate is not rusted away I would like to buy one. I think I can caniblise it to replace the plate in one that I have. The plate is totaly gone but the bumper looks good.
