I'm new to the site and new to 911's. I've had a 86' 944 for many years but finally upgraded to an 85' Carrera. I'm trying to understand the codes to determine the color of my interior. I've read numerous postings on this subject but have not been able to find the answer. The sticker under the hood gives a paint code of L700 which corresponds to Black (which it is). From the sticker it appears that the interior code is 87 which does not make any sense. I cannot find any corresponding colors for this code. The interior is a tan or beige. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Can't find that code for interior color either. You might try calling Porsche and ask them. Paint code for L700 is black and was used in 1985 for the 911. COO means meets European emissions. Your VIN is a ROW 911 for 1985 coupe.

I understand that the car is a European model and "87" is propably not the year of the interior. The question I asked is what color is the interior based on the '87' code?

According to my book it is a "Special Leather" interior with Champagne seats, trim and carpet with Black dash and roofliner.

Thanks. The car does have a black dash and headliner. What does "Special Leather" mean and could you please tell me what book has this info in?

Can this information be found elsewhere on the car? My sticker appears to be missing.

por9116,
"special leather" referred to what was essentially a full leather interior, in one of several colors. In most years, the choices were 6 or 8 in number. A standard leather interior had a lot of leatherette (vinyl) in most places. There were a zillion permutations available in the mid-eighties. toddu, You won't find a sticker like that on your car. Porsche didn't begin installing them on the underside of the trunk lid until a few years after your car was built. JR |
