930 upgrades

Dear Porschephiles, I have been a fly on the wall for some months now and it is time for me to ask the opinion of this august group.
Back when I was in school I fell in love with the 930 and said someday... It took me 20 years but in 1996 I bought a bone stock vesuvial grey metallic 79 930 with 26K miles. 3 years ago I participated in my first Drivers Ed and now I'm hooked. It may not be better than sex, but it's as close as a presidential election. After awhile, like all 930 guys, I started looking at the go faster stuff. Some upgrades have already been done. Gone are the evil thermonuclear reactors. The K26 gave up at the sixth DE and I upgraded to a K27, replaced the thermoes with a 1986 930 header(that I got at a swap meet for 125.)and a slightly used B+B 4 inch duel outlet muffler(when I fired it up in the garage it blew the lids off the garbage cans. Cool!) I also added hyd chain tensioners. This winter I am going to have a local shop drop the engine/trans. to replace a third gear synchro that is shot.(I'm up to 3 potatoes on a 2-3 shift.) I also have some oil leaks we will be able to get to while the engine is out. I want to keep this car street, but always ready for the track. I don't have unlimited funds and want to avoid AIDS(Automotive Induced Divorce Syndrom) I have several questions.
1. My mech has a lightweight clutch and flywheel for my car. Is there a downside to this? Poor idle?
2. Both camshaft seals are leaking and will be replaced. While were in there why not upgrade the cams? SC, Group B, custom grind. Whats my best choice.
3. I'm thinking of 245/45 and 315/35 Hoosiers on 17 inch rims. I understand that this fits if I roll the fenders. Anybody out there have this set up?
4. Has anybody used a G-Tech Performance Meter. I was going to dyno to get a baseline for around 150. I can get a G-Tech for around 130. I know it's not as accurate, but is it close?
I apologize for the length of this post. Thanks for your help. Happy Thanksgiving.

I have a G-tech. Remember, you can't get a ticket for doing dyno tests...I don't know where you live, but the G-tech is preset for 60 mph 1/4 mile etc. So you have to find a nice place to do your runs where you can actually concentrate on the road and so forth.
Otherwise, it's supposedly pretty accurate. The numbers I get are precise (meaning they're close together), and when I expect a poor 0-60 time, I get one. Of course, it could be biased one way or another, and I'd not know, but it's performance reflects each run I've done so far.

I have a simaliar setup as your 930, but I have it connected to a 915 tranny. I put some new cams in that were a little 'wilder' than the SC cams. The idle is fine once the car is warm and adds about 25hp, but it's rough at first startup.
I also put a new clutch and flywheel in. It does rev quicker but depending on what you do with your car it's not always good. The light weight of the flywheel makes quick starts harder. I've heard one of the best things to do with the 4speed turbos is to change out gears 1-3 to closer ratios and leave 4th as it is.

PS- 335 rears would be huge, I'm looking at 275 with either AVS or A032.

The only disadvantage to a lightweight clutch and flywheel is taking off in first gear. It requires a little more skill to keep from killing it. It won't effect idle. Boxer 6's are so inherently well balanced you can't even feel it when 1 cylinder isn,t firing. (You can hear it though). The lighter rotating mass will reduce turbo lag and increase acceleration. So what if you have to feather the clutch a little more on take-offs.
