Porsche Feedback in Raleigh, NC

Has anyone had any experience with Motorcar Investments located in Raleigh, NC. Also, who would you recommend for PPI in Raleigh area. Appreciate your input!

Thx,
chris

No personal experience but they seem to have a solid reputation in the area. European Perfomance can do the PPI and they are part of the same building as Motorcar. I have used EP and was very satisfied with the work. I don't know the affiliation, if any, between the two.

I know Larry very well, for 10+ years. Good people.

On the same premises is a full-service European shop called European Performance. Different owner and basically independent of MI/Larry. They could do the inspection for you.

If you're leary of getting an inspection done under the same roof, which is understandable from your perspective, you could try Chuck Miller @ Millersport in Hillsborough, NC.

What car are you looking at? I'm up there all the time and have likely seen it (they're about 5 mins from my house).

Chris,
I almost bought a 964 at Motorcar Investments. They seem to be very up-front when they present a car. Motorcar allowed me to take the car overnight to try it out. The pricing seemed to be in line with the market. In the end I bought something else, a 993, from a private individual.

The shop that is co-located, European Performance, is where I have work that I cannot do in my garage completed. Jimmy is the owner of the building and expert wrench at the shop. I have never had any issues with anything that they have advised or done to my 993 or the 911SC.

Have EP do the PPI or if you don’t feel comfortable using Jimmy, I have heard that Chuck Miller at Millersport in Hillsborough is a good mechanic.

There is a guy in Durham at the Digital Chassis that could also do a ppi. I have never been there but have also heard good things about Chuck Miller. In fact I think Brad at the Digital Chassis is using donor rims from Millersport when I have the fuchs refinished.

European Performance, and Millersport are the 2 best places for a PPI in the Triangle.

I am interested in the 87 Cab they have listed. The car looks very clean and they have done a lot work, engine re-build, new conv top, etc...

Thanks for your responses!!!

$24,000 for an 87 Cab seems pretty high with all the stone chips on the black paint. He's had it on the lot since the summer.

They sold a red 82 Targa for $18,500 a few months ago that had about 110,000 miles on it

Most of the cars on their are being sold on consignment and I was looking at a black SC targa they had last year and the salesman told me that they were sending the car back to the owner due to broken head studs.

They did say it was on consignment and would take 22k; seem more reasonable??

Still seems a bit high for me.

Here's an 87 Turbo Cabriolet for the same price.

Larry, Tolga & Jimmy are all good guys. They seem to try and run an honest business. Not too sure how I feel about them doing the PPI on a car Larry is selling. I have spent about $2500.00 with EP on repairs I did not want to handle or deal with. I have not felt takin advantage of and repairs have been completed as I would have done (no corner cutting). I hear good things about Chuck Miller at Millersport in Hillsborough. However, have never done business with him. I would trust EP to do any PPI.

If you're still unsure, make the drive to Hillsborough and see Chuck - He's is the man! I won't let anyone else touch my car except him.
