Advice sought on seats.
I don't know anything about seats. Mine look just like these -(without the duct tape) but with headrests. They are vinyl. The springs on the driver's side are beat up and it is a little worn. The jump seats look like new. I want to keep my car original - a '73.5 T. Are they worth recovering or should I look for a substitute set? What will either option cost me?

There are a lot of variables. How much needs to be done, the cost of materials, what the shop charges, what part of the country, etc. I would definitely say, if you want to keep your car original as you say, just take the driver seat out & find a good shop to fix it. That's entirely doable. It may be somebody local or in your general area. That would be the most economic, quick & original way to do it. There may be some Pelicans in your area or you might check with the local PCA for recommendations. Good luck.

google 'world upholstery'..i think you'll find prices that range from around $500 for german vinyl to $1000 for leather.

Yeah. I just started playing 3 years ago -- at the ripe ol' age of 49. I have a Les Paul Standard. A Porsche and a Les Paul -- it doesn't get much better than that.

LP,
Unless you plan on doing the reupholstrey/spring repair yourself, I would contact Tony Garcia at Autobahn Interiors for the seat restoration. Tony has many years in the business w/ vintage Porsche interiors & many satisfied customers. http://www.autobahninteriors.com/home.html Good luck w/ the T ![]()
