Carrera Tail-Pictures of removal and instructions

Just took off the carrera tail and thought I would post the process. Was unable to locate any good info with pictures here, so maybe this will help some people out there.

I have a 1979 911 SC with air conditioner. So the 1st thing I did was lifted the decklid and unfasted the retaining screws/bolts for the A/C evaporator. Once I dropped that down out of the way I was able to reach up into the tail and hold the retaining nuts on each side of the tail while I removed the 2 bolts at each side.

After that I removed the 5 bolts that are in line across the back part of tail where it is attached to decklid.

That is all the bolts securing the tail. I then used a blowdryer to warm up the seal where the tail meets the decklid and after about 20 minutes of applying the heat I closed the lid and began pushing down on the rubber lip and gently pulling up on the front part of the tail closest to the back window.

It came up and off the lid pretty easily at that point.

Here are some pictures of the bottom of the tail and inside of the tail. And also a good picture of the OEM marks of teh crest and Porsche word.
Inside the tail removed you can then see how the rubber lip is fastened.

The last pictures show the decklid sans tail, and the way teh A/C evap has been dropped down out of the way.

This was what worked for me, anybody have an easier method or advice for a different year 911 please post.
