Can't open glove box.

Anyone know of a procedure to open a glove box when the traditional method fails?? The knob turns as it always has but fails to open it, with or without the key inserted. (it worked just last week and very little is in box...)

Thanks,
Jean-Paul

Method 1) Well the glovebox bottom is actually cardboard. You can pull it out from underneath the dash. Once that is out, you ought to be able to get at the retaining screws and open the door.
Method 2) Got a hammer?

Thanks, you are right that I should be able to get the cardoard box out from the back. Looks like some of the lower dash trim will have to come off to access the strap and screw that holds the cardboard.

However much better than option 2

Well, after all it does not look as though one can just remove the rear of the glove box without cutting the retaining bracket, as the screws for it as well as the hinges on the bottom of door can only be accessed with the glove box open...

Any suggestion as to how ,or if, one could use a credit card of something like it to help it open?? Witch direction do I need to go with it??

Thanks

I actually had the same exact problem. Try a couple of things. First try to turn the knob and pull the knob and door to the right, then try the left. As it turned out, my glove box opened without a credit card or a screwdriver. I found that once you have it open, you can loosen the plate and adjust it so that it does not stick anymore. I realize this is worthless advice if you can't get it opened. But I would try putting pressure on the knob and door prior to trying the screwdriver and prior to cutting the strap.

I am reminded of my mother that used to say "you're not holding your mouth right".
