Some fab work on a GT3

I think this turned out pretty slick. The customer is a very nice guy and I think he will be very happy with this setup...

Wow, that is a nice set up.

Firstgen, what is the thought process for fabbing up exhaust, mount tthe tips and the flange where they need to be and then fill in the middle?

There are several ways to attack it. I typically do it exactly as you mentioned. It's is usually easier said than done

One thing I have learned is that in order for things to remotely line up after all that welding, you must make very good tack welds and still after that - weld up each seam from opposing sides in segments to counter it's tendency to pull the tubing one way or the other. A good tack will help but won't even stop this...

Yup, I've played around with tubing a bit and it's MUCH more difficult than it looks to get them to meet up just right, especially to tig. That exhaust is like a piece of art.

Are those 100 cell cats? What brand do you use?

They are Magnaflow spun metal-matrix cats. They are 250 cell count. I've found that 100 cell cats will not always keep 02 sensors happy.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older, or worried about the axe to fall on us California car lovers, but I'm thinking I'll put a cat back on with my efi conversion.
