How to remove surface rust before painting?
I got my watershields back from the beadblaster and a light 'haze' of rust is present on them (not completely covered but still need to get rid of it). What should i use to clean this off prior to painting?
Also, should i prime before painting? I plan to use a low gloss high temp paint. thanks! |
Try this product by Eastwood.

Yes you should prime bare metal. For surface rust you can use PickleX, the POR 15 product called Metal Ready or the PPG metal prep product called DX520 or Ospho (http://www.ospho.com/). Use google on the rest. Hope this helps.

PickleX Epoxy prime and finish with the top coat of choice, no more rust worries.
If you use PickleX you can't use an etch primer. Don't know about the others. |
