Anyone in Chicago that can help?

I am from Ontario and have been communicating with a seller from Chicago. He has a 1988 930 for sale and I don't want to buy sight unseen. Is there anyone that could take a look at it for me if I go ahead with the sale? I will also want to get a PPI done but that doesn't tell me the condition of the car overall.

www.craigslist.com Chicago

Thanks. Brian

Most of the guys over at Gruppe B are from Chicago and I know someone there can help you out. Couple of the guys even have their own shop. They might even know the car. Gruppe B

The prices on the site this car is listed on (porschatrader.com) don't look right for the mileage stated. I would be very cautious.

I don't have much experience in this area -- but if you end up needing a shop -- would highly reccommend Fischers in Barrington. Great shop that has done multiple work on my 78SC Euro.

i just looked at the photos and i don't think the $$ matched the condition. i just took a quick look at ebay and every 930 there looked better than this one for not much more money. i would go for a better condition sc or carrera if you don't want to spend more.

Brian,
Be very careful in the purchase of this vehicle. I was suposed to purchase it myself, and the seller stated that it was located in AZ. There are numerous threads on Pelican in reference to this vehicle.

The seller gave me the run around for 2/mos before finally saying that a neighbor ran into the quater panel amd that he was going to part it out. Seller I spoke to went by (Eddie). Do a search under his pelican username (diabolos88), and you'll see the vehicle listed 10/18/06.

If you do more research, you will also find numerous threads on pelican & rennlist regarding the history of this vehicle and seller. BE CAREFUL!

Thanks for the heads up. I spoke with Chris from a shop in Chigago that gave it a PPI a few weeks ago. There are problems with the car. I'm thankful there are people on thsi website that look out for each other!

I wouldn't trust that seller. I had a small negative experience with him on this board.
