How hard to pop a seat out?..
Need to get my driver's seat repaired, and the car is off the road until spring. It's a power seat, so I'm sure there is a little more involved.
Any online instructions, or is it easier than it seems, with a couple screws and a plug?

5 minutes. Unhook the electrical wiring and remove 4 bolts.

really? two bolts in front and two bolts in back? electrical plug/harness underneath?
is that really it? if so, i may do this tonight.

some years require you to do the front bolts first so you can slide the seat up far enough to get to the rear. my 77 has an internal stop welded inside the track.
use the proper metric allen wrench, or a 10mm box, whichever you have, as they have a tendency to strip and/or break when you use a non-metric tool. tool head should be squarely seated in/on the bolt head.

Take the two front out first,, save you the time trying to get the rear out first. You cannot move the seat up far enought to get the rear before the front.

Actually, this only applies to the early cars. The later ones have a different set of tracks. You need a 6mm allen wrench, or socket, and it doesn't matter which you do first.

ok, sounds like I'll just have to "learn" myself how to do it. At least I know harnesses are easy, they just pop out.
I have a metric set and an allen set, see where it leads me.

Plus... the later cars use 6 bolts ( ex: my 85).....2 in the rear of each track.
Make sure the allen key fits real snug....you are seriously SOL if you round out the key recess AND you find the head is deeply buried so you can't get channel-locks around the outer edge !!! - Wil

i won't continue to work if they don't fit snug, not in that big of a rush.
