Cooling Shrouds

Have a couple of red shrouds,[pictured] and the csi one is really tatty round the edges--big job [for me!] to repair. I was given----
well $6 anyway--the broken one which will repair quite well, and I should be able to graft the back corner OK.
No problem with the injector cutouts as they are moulded in to the carb?one, but my query is about the oil cooler duct.
Any theories on why Porsche went to the separate duct?
Any known problems with the one piece shroud?
I hope to use a front cooler ,so the efficiency shouldnt be a problem.
The engine is a 2.7csi
