I saw this famed RSR up close last Friday. I love the exterior. It will turn heads.
Shameless commercial: I am hoping that it will be at Winterfest 2007 at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo 2/16-18 (PCA event). Last year we had 50 cars including an Alva, a GT3, a Twin Turbo, and the new Cayman (it wasn't out yet). Its a great time. More info: http://www.tr-pca.org/news_read.asp?article_id=84 You can register up through 2/9 |
Don, I love what you did to the car aesthetically, I wish you took the engine up a notch though. She is still a beauty even if she looks faster than she really is.;)

Thanks again guys. :o
I agree Excellence is the most diversified magazine on our favorite cars. I think there more in tune with us Porscheattics. Joe. Vic said he is going to bring it to Winterfest for me. I will have the kids that weekend and won't be able to come. :( You guys have one http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pint1.gif for me! The engine has been kicked up a bit. It has a chip, filter and the GHL headers. A C2 we did with the same engine setup put down 251hp to the wheels on our Dynojett. And with all those heavy body parts taken off it goes Man! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/icon26.gif |
Don: Bring the kids to the Choo-Choo. IMAX, TN Aquarium, Tri-cross (Auto-X on a tricycle), RC Autocross... They'd have a blast!

my hand is UPPPP !!!
Don...when U first posted that car and the pics I said Excellence needs to a story on this car. Bruce A has always stated that a backdated 964 would be his dream. You get the "Car of the Year" award...IMHO...

We had to put a stiffener on the back side when we got back from Sebring. It was the first time we had run the car after building it. But, David really had it going too. :D |
Ever since I saw what Don did I'm convinced that's what I'd like to do. I don't have any desire for a stripped out interior, no radio, no ac, no whatever. I spend a lot of time stuck in Dallas traffic and want the few "luxuries" available in a 911, decent a/c being one of them, although luxury is probably an overstatement. I think his project is a perfect combination of both worlds and I also think he would be able to sell it, although I don't know what he has into it so whether the process/project is its own reward or a money maker is unclear. My guess is that the next one, if there is one, can benefit from what he learned and be done quicker/cheaper etc.
Absolutely stunning resulst though, at least IMHO! |
Interesting letters to the ed. (2) 911 and Porsche World (I believe this was the publication I saw, correct me if I'm wrong) in response to an article on a particular backdated 911. The letter writers make some valid points that I had not considered, namely that a number of us have been appalled by the molestation of early and mid-911s that would forge their own identity in years to come, but welcome the idea of backdating 10-15 year-old 911s that would thus never reach adulthood as they left the factory. Alas, the basis of their arguments seems to be that these recent backdates may not have much value (resale) down the line. I, for one, I'm not concerned with resale value when it comes to my P-car. While I can appreciate the letter writers' points, I agree with the editor that if an owner wants to spend the money, he can do what he well pleases with his car. Personally, if I had the creativity, mechanical know-how, and money, I would love to add a early-look 911 with the safety features of a modern Porsche to my garage. These guys are true artists and mechanical ninjas. Not sure what my point was when I began this reply, but I thought the letters might create a stir...they did in my head apparently.

This car sold on Barett-Jackson. $49,000...;-)

I would love to know where this car is now!

Hey Don, it was good to meet you at Don Yount's Meet the Driver event here in Dallas. I need to win the lottery then give you a call! The car you built for Don (Yount) was spectacular.
