Dash conversion......two vents to one?

I’m wondering if it’s possible to do the following conversion:
First, I removed my windshield to access my dash. I think I hold the world record for most time spent to remove five nuts! I think the beers helped me out here! Anyway, back to my question……is it possible to convert my dash ('81 SC Targa) which has two vents for the defrost to a newer dash which has one center vent? Furthermore, will it fit? The dash is from an '86 Carrera. I’m not sure what is involved and if it’s even possible. Your response or comments are greatly appreciated.

Yes you can. I did it on my SC and it updates the whole look of the interior. You need to fabricate the new ducts underneath the actual vent, but it can be a little tricky and time consuming, but it is worth it.
I put a C-2 dash in mine. I will try and get some pics for you.

Thanks for your response. Another question, do you have to modify the front a/c duct to fit the larger vent? Furthermore, did you fabricate the new center duct replacing the older two, or did you buy a stock replacement part? Your pictures would definitely be of some help, or at least encourage me to do this modification!
