? 85 Targa

'85 Targa in town, red with black interior, 115,000 miles. Body and paint are very good, repainted 2 yrs ago, seller says to cover chips and scratches. hmmmmm ( havent done carfax yet ) Interior is good, all original, leather good. Has the "leather package", dont know what that means. Leaks a little oil ( dont know if most 85s do ) Cant find any rust. Has brand new cup trplicas and sumitomo tires on it. Hes asking $13,500. I know its the 915 tranny, should I avoid them all together on the 3.2s?

Should I keep looking? I think I can post pics on Monday.

If you are interested in the car have a pre-purchase inspection done by someone who has both mechanical and chassis expertise with Porsche's. If there are service records that helps with the history of how the car was cared for.
Leaking oil happens but is not acceptable. Find out why it's leaking. Might be an easy fix, might be something else, depends where it leaks from and how easy/hard it will be to access.
Before you buy any 911 you should know as much as you can about them.
The 915 should not be a deterrent for you.
Are you looking for a daily driver or occasional driver? Track or autocross?
EDIT: leather package means interior, not just seats, are leather. That means door panels, dash, rear shelf etc.

I realize that it would be ideal to have a PPI. Done it before with BMWs. I live in northwest Arkansas and we just dont have anyone here to look the car over. I would like the car as a daily driver with occasional track days. There is no service Hx. Three previous owners. I am afraid that I am getting sucked in by the shape of the car cosmetically, and Im inpatient. Two horrible qualities for a car buyer!!!

The inside is really nice.

Be very careful l. You may want to contact member bigchillcar (Ryan) he is in Little Rock. I know he has used a porsche shop there, I know its still a ways from Bentonville.

The logistics and cost in time/money to get a PPI may well suck. But what you end up finding having not gotten one could suck a lot more! Any chance of some pictures?

Hope it works out,

Paul.
