Distributor rebuild.

I am having trouble finding anybody who has the parts to rebuild my distributor. Its from a 76 carrera 3.0, dizzy # 0 231 184 006 same series as the 001 2.7 dizzy or the 004 2.7 RS unit. The bushings appear to be fine, the problem is the plastic parts on the weights and spring plate and advance cam are basically disintegrated to the point where the springs won't stay in place any longer and the weights are beginning to touch metal on metal. Who has parts so I can send this away and have it redone top to bottom. As another option I have a 004 RS Unit new in the box that will slide right in the hole. Any theories as to how it will wort with the CIS system. I have found only one post that mentions running a 004 on CIS and the guy said it worked OK. Is it a must to get it recurved to keep the car from running like crap? Getting desperate for answers and need some help as I am constantly coming up with no answers.
Thanks for the help in advance Trevor.

I think the advance curve on the 004 is going to be too aggresive for the CIS. Others on the board know more but that's my 2 cents. I'm not sure you'll find a place to get replacement weights. Moto Parts does a nice job rebuilding these distributors but I doubt they will be able to get the parts.

Henry at Supertec does rebuilds.
I used a fellow in Detroit that Bruce Anderson mentions in his book. Excellent result but a little pricey. Let me know if you need his contact info

Good call... I forgot about Henry - even though he is building my 73RSR clone with a 3.5MFI engine . He has a big stock of parts so he may have what it takes to rebuild it.

Jerry Woods also does rebuild and does an excellent job. He is probably working at Daytona right now.

Distributor rebuild

Per Grady's advice, you may want to check around for an old "auto-electric" shop in your area. You want to find an old Sun machine, and someone who knows how to use it.

It takes some looking and asking around, but I'm willing to bet there is one around your area. Hopefully the machine still works, and isn't shoved into some dark, dusty corner of the shop. The next trick is getting one of the old boys to help you!

In the East, Stoddard rebuilds distributors, no problem.
Or you could try Jerry Woods on the West Coast - I'm sure they can help.

Thanks to all who have chimed in. I called moto-parts today and he has nothing left for internals except bushings, and can't come up with a supplier for any other parts at this time. I also called John Walker and he has always dealt with moto-parts thru his shop. He was concerned as well that parts were becoming this scarce. He mentioned that hopefully somebody soon would be able to produce something as an aftermarket rebuild kit to keep these old girls running.

Stoddard distributor rebuild

Yes, that Stoddard. When I was looking for a place to do it, I called & asked for the vintage service dept. I spoke to the manager, I believe his name was Gene. He told me they rebuild them & to ship the unit to them. They would inspect it and call me when it was finished. I didn't ask the price- it is what it is.

Fortunately, I found an old boy (thru my mechanic) near me who owns a Sun machine and rebuilds them for a hobby. Otherwise, I would have sent it to Stoddard. They've been in this business, what, 50 years, or something?

Well then why don't you post the old boy's,Telephone, name and address.
Since Syncrographs Machines are needed for this distributors another source for rebuilding will be at hand.

Mighty have you gotten your dizzy back yet and if so are you happy? Price? Right now i am planning to use Henry. He is not cheap (almost $400) but i feel good about sending it to him vs. an unkown.
