Jay Moore almost done with his '72 RS (pics)

Jay Moore (Air Cooleds Only) Prescott, AZ was installing the new 2.7 into his 1972 RS. He's been working the car for quite a while and it's almost done. Too much to list but it's very cool (and light). How about that color? Lawn Chair Green! I love it.
Jay is our local guru and my personal wrench. He has Porsche factory background, lots of Porsche race history.

That is sweet! how does that mufler sound ... Is that a flow master? I am thinking about a new muffler for my 67... It has a monsa dual muffler with x pipe on it now ... I think something just like that one might be perfect.

I like the color too... and the MFI is SWEET!

FYI; Jay started with two rollers and is a great fabricator. The license plate "911 CS" Jay says I made chicken salad out of chicken S**t!_LOL That muffler is off a Camero. He modified it to a two out with some real breathing room. The dash is a (one pound) fiberglass piece with a non-glare cover.

The muffler is a stock Camero muffler that handled a 350. He tuned it and it is pretty amazing for a shop made one on a kind. Without going into all the details this ain't no stock 2.7.

What I like is the apparently new paint/bodywork on the car. It is beautiful from the photos. Do you know if it was painted locally?

The car was painted by the paint shop next door to Jay's shop. It's dead straight and should be even better after it gets wet sanded and buffed out. The interior and dash were done by John Blizzard.
To we lovers of classic Porsche "old school" resto-mod cars this is a sweetheart. I can't wait to chase him through the twisties!

the chicken salad/chicked sht story

Cool ride, thanks for posting the pictures.

Thanks! Do you know if it was a full, glass-out job? Do they specialize in Porsches. I would be interested in contact info since you are only aboy 4 hrs from me and I need some paint work.

It was a window out job. They don't particularily specalize in Porsche (small town) but they do nice work. If you're interested I'll get you a contact and PM you.

Thank you...and thanks for the Pix. It is a fine example of an early hotrod. Maybe if I can get down there later in the year to get an estimate...we can compare our mid-9 hot-rods. I need to rework the suspension with some new struts and bushings before the paint and just don't have time. Maybe if I can find a shop in Vegas or Albuquerque (where my car is garaged right now) that I can get to do the work. Does Jay only do engines...or would he be a good choice for suspension/general work?

Jay is a pro and a cool guy. I've been a Porschephile for many years and he is one of the very best in my opinion. After all I trust him with my "Precious'. He specailzes on air cooled p-cars. My recomendation (without hesitation) for engine, suspension or even some coach work. He knows what's right and what will work. He uses 20th Street Auto down in Phoenix as a go to source for replacement donor parts when required. They have a great selection and pretty darned fair pricing.
I just did my suspension. Oh boy! I'm so sticky in the twisties now!

Sorry for the hijack. If your car is in ABQ, NM you should give
Russ Kelso a call. His shop is in Corrales
505-898-6487

Russ did a susp. overhaul on my 70 911E & some susp work on
my 82 SC. Excellent work, great guy. He is well known in NM PCA

Good info. Thanks! I will check Kelso out as well. My previous experience with other (unnamed) Albuquerque wrenches is less than satisfactory.

Jay does know his schit. That is a sweet little car, especially so if you could have seen what he started with.

Anytime Don! Maybe you can get Jeff and Lee (if his car is together again) to come along if they can. I think there's some sort of football game this Sunday :-0

Nick, long time no see. Jay is busting his buttons for sure. The car sounds great.

KNS, will the new job keep you from going on a Sunday drive with us sometime? Don't forget PIR in March for the PCA Race Day.
