How to remove lower dash trim (knee pad)?
Have the car interior completely strippped out now for a roll cage install but I can't figure out whether or not the lower part of the dash can be separated from the main part or not. If so, how is it attached? I'd like to remove it so that the knee bar for my new roll cage can be fitted closer to the dash.
See the section highlighted with a yellow line in the image below. Car is an 82 911SC. Thanks, Jeff ![]()

The kneepad is attached with integral studs that are bolted through the lower dash sheetmetal. Feel the backside of the dash for the nuts holding it on and remove them. It's an easy job.

The bolts by the ash try are the easy ones the bolt by the ignition and the passenger door are the fun ones. Remove the seats get a compfy pillow a great flashlight lay upside down with your head on the clutch pedal nestled against the brake pedal and from hear you can remove the wiring that is mostly in you way. Be sure to for get to bring your 10 mm wrench and 1/4” ratchet with you that way you can climb in and out 6 more times. The repeat on the passenger side minus the pedals and use your left hand on these
