MSD 2 Blaster coil question

They recommend vertical mounting position.

Anybody try mounting it downward like the Bosch coil without having any problems?

I hear the coils are oil filled and a bubble forms if mounted up-side down, causing overheating and failure.

The other option for me would be to leave the Bosch coil where it is and mount the MSD coil to the firewall vertically.
If the MSD fails I can move the wires over to the Bosch and be on my way.

KT,

The MSD coil you should be using is this epoxy-filled one:

MSD-PN8222 MSD High-Vibration Blaster Coil $65.00

But, if you insist on using one of the other 'Blasters' ... your suggestion sounds OK. Not optimal, but OK for now.

I have two of the epoxy-filled ones and they're mounted pointing downward and have worked fine for several years of DEs and occasional street use.

A friend of mine used a the Blaster 2 inverted and it conked out. He switched to the epoxy anti-vibe unit.

I don't know if I can return the Blaster 2 I bought a few months ago.

I mounted my Blaster 2 in the normal (on the fan housing) location. It's not upside down, but it is not vertical either. The engine has been used for a couple of years with no issues.

My Bosch is in the same location, only pointed downward.
No problems.

Hurry, if they accept electrical parts at all most of the speed shops cut off returns at 90 days (Summit or Jegs).
