White smoke

Never had it before I had my oil changed. Now a lot of White smoke comes out the muffler now. Could they have put to much oil in? My oil gage is at the highest level. I check the stick and it is pass both notches. 3/4 of the way up the stick. Should I just drain a little? Will this solve my problem................Thanks for any help!!

white smoke would typically indicate condensation in the exhaust, does it burn off after a few minutes idle, or does it blow smoke on acceleration / deceleration?

How much oil did they put in the tank? If it's more than 10 quarts it could be above the high mark as the oil cooler lines and trombone hold about 3 quarts or so. You might want to drain out a couple of quarts and try that. If it stops smoking when you do, then run the car up to running temp and recheck the level with the car running, at operating temp, on level ground and readjust the quantity.

Brian

What grade/brand of oil is in now? Also check this thread; how to diagnose smoke on start up?

YES, drain some oil. You should not exceed the max-notch. I assume you checked the oil on idle and when warm.
Drain the engine sump, that should be a few quarts, depending on how long its been standing. Its easy to add more oil if drain to much, use a clean container and you can reuse the oil if you need to add some.

I would not return to that shop for any more work in the future. Go so someone who knows Porsche or do it yourself.

The oil should be between the 2 marks. You have too much oil in there; probably a couple quarts too much at least.

I'm sure you know to only check the oil on level ground, operating temperature and with the engine idling. You should leave the engine running a minute or so before checking. Do not check with the engine cold and not running. Sorry if you already know this.

The oil level will be higher at operating temp than when cold - oil expands.
