Replacing plastic fuel line with metalic one ??

I'm thinking of replacing my original WUR (type 001, the older one) for a more recent one.
The current one is connected by a black plastic line to the fuel distributor, while newer ones use metallic (rigid) lines. Question is, can I attach one of those metallic lines to my fuel distributor ? Are the fittings compatible ?

prebordao,

The metal lines from the FD is attached to 8 mm x 1.0 adaptor compression fittings. While the flexible black fuel lines are using 8 mm banjo fittings. The fittings toward the WUR and injectors are the same for most cases (12 mm X 1.5).

I don't have an -001 WUR to check the fittings. All the WUR's (0-438-104-xxx) that I have come across have 10 mm x 1.0 (inlet) and 8 mm X 1.0 (outlet or return). So an appropriate adaptor for the inlet is needed ( 12 mm x 1.5 and 10 mm x 1.0) for both flexible and metal line (FD to WUR connection).

To convert from flexible fuel lines to metal (late SC's), you need to have 7 additional adaptors (8 mm and 8 mm X 1.0) for the FD to replace the banjo fittings. Now to answer your question about compatibility (fittings), the answer is NO. However, using the right adaptors will solve this problem. HTH.

The -001 type is as far as I know the only one that uses barbed fittings instead of threaded ones (I might be wrong).
I intend to replace it for a newer type as I understand that they're not rebuildable. A newer suitable type seems to be -129. Of course this one has the late threaded fittings so an adapter kit is needed to mate it to the old plastic lines. I have the kit already, but was thinking of changing just the line from the FD to the WUR from plastic to metal as the plastic ones are such a pain to fit (I tried it).
So, if I understand correctly, I can fit a metallic line by changing the banjo fitting at the FD end for a different one. And does it have a part number that I can look for ?

If someone will post a photo of each type, and you can specify what you need, I will see what adapters are available.

If I don't have them in stock I can order them from Germany.

prebordao-

Will a short connector w M10 Male threads (Shown upper left) on one end and M8 Female threads & bullet end (lower photo) on the other end work for you?

If you or someone can confirm the thread dims I will make one up.
