WOW, I have never seen *anything* like this before...

And I've seen a lot in my days here at Pelican. Porsche 996 Replica.

Could be a rare car for someone... but not me.

Fishcop 02-07-2007 01:15 AM

Oh man that's awful...

Zef 02-07-2007 01:56 AM

Hooo la la...! discusting thing...

schleg79 02-07-2007 02:47 AM

so sad.

89911 02-07-2007 03:40 AM

I never much liked the 996 body style and didn't think it could look any worse then it is. Guess I was wrong.

IROC 02-07-2007 03:50 AM

I think some 13" wheels would really top it off.

GothingNC 02-07-2007 03:58 AM

I am speechless...

A little like the Cayenne, a bloated 996 accident.

I wonder what makes it a 2002 Carrera 4 replica, when it hardly resembles a 911 at all?

tangerine911S 02-07-2007 04:07 AM

AWESOME!

great porsche looks and toyota reliability :)

berettafan 02-07-2007 04:22 AM

i hope it's not a prophecy of where things are headed.

Jag, AM, Maserati, all the big guys are, IMO, losing their sould with bland cars and this 'thing' is a reminder of that.

DustinTarditi 02-07-2007 04:23 AM

That's either sme SERIOUS body work or somebody makes a kit...

If it's scratch built, why not just go BUY one? They're certainly available for the amount of labor invested in that... if someone actually makes a 996 kit: why?

Like the 959 kits from the 80s - so many good VW Beetles sacrificed themselves so people could make their 959 replica with a whopping 1600cc boxer 4 engine... oh yeah it may have had a Bosch blue coil, .009 distributor, and dual quiet pack exhaust... smooth...

The thought proccess:

1- I want a Porsche.
2- I can't afford a Porsche.
3- I have a great idea- I'll build a Porsche.
.

.
.
.
.
.
4- Oh, crap. I should have just bought a Porsche.

Paul K 02-07-2007 04:42 AM

Even uglier than a 996, with Camry performance. WTF?

Venetian 02-07-2007 04:45 AM

Weird. You could buy a real 911 for what that must of cost.

berettafan 02-07-2007 04:45 AM

I can't tell for sure but i'll bet there's a sign in the window:

"Must sell, embarking on V8 911 project"

cbecker 02-07-2007 04:47 AM

And still worth 9k with 78,000miles?! We should all buy one!

oceanvue 02-07-2007 04:57 AM

What is it? And why is there a fence around it to keep people from stealing it? And who would steal it? And if they did would they want to be seen in public with it? And if they were seen in public would people have the same reaction as us? And if people did have the same reaction would the guys who stole it take it back or hope someone would steal it from them? There is a lot of unanswered questions.

HelmetHead 02-07-2007 05:22 AM

All the discussion of how much this cost to build...

I'd be willing to bet somebody in the neighborhood "lost" their 996 and somebody else..."found" one, yanked some parts...frankenweld them to the wifes' Camry over a nice cold Tecate....

89911 02-07-2007 05:28 AM

Hopefully nobody from the Porsche design team hasn't spotted it yet. Ladies and Gentleman, let me unveil the new 998!
