I give up...
I've been trying to find an oil tank dipstick for a '72 for too long. Can someone who has one please get me some measurements so I can fabricate one?
It would be really appreciated. Thanks! |
Have you tried Einmalig in Huntington Beach? They're a Porsche recycler and seemingly have every part every made for every road going 911 ever made. Give them a call, but be sure they're clear on the fact that you need a dipstick for a '72. I'll bet they have it.
Here's their website. http://einmalig.com/ |
Sure hold on.

Check to see if this will fit your year. (scroll about halfway down the page). They're a bit pricey at $40, but for that kind of money it's not worth the hassle of trying to fab one.

Here's one but let me know what you need. Charging the camera now.

Thanks, Guys!
I checked with Einmalig, they were going to look but no return call as of yet. Good people. ScottB - Thanks but that looks like a non-'72 stick, and $40 for a repro dipstick is a bit much. Jay - Thanks! There are just the two marks on the stick, right? Should be able to make a working copy easy enough. |
|
Shouldn't be too hard. The marks are at 3 and 1/2 and about 5 and 7/8ths. The round part at the top is an inch and a half in diameter and the "stick" is 9 and 1/4" long not including the finger hoop.

Here's a '72 dipstick pic. Lifted from this site...I dunno how long ago. |
Kevin, you could also try Parts Obsolete. Have had great luck finding parts with them @ a very good price.
http://www.partsobsolete.com/ Hows it going by the way Kevin? I have to make my way down that way soon. |
Also try EASY ... but call, don't send email (I don't think they ever answer :) )
