If I fill my gas tank over 1/2" it leaks all over the place. before I pull the tank, has anyone had this problem, and what could it be?

It would help a bit to know how old the vehicle is ... and if you REALLY meant 1/2" .... or 1/2 tank full?

I had a similar problem with a 76 911 that I used to have. The tank was rusting at the seam that joins the uppper and lower halves of the tank. A local vendor had unsuccessfully tried (a few times) to repair the rust and seal the tank and the seam. In the end I ended up buying a used tank from one of the salvage yards that advertise in Excellence. The tank looked brand new and solved all of my problems.
If your tank is leaking you probably have rust which is getting pumped throughout your fuel system. I would have avoided a lot of headaches if I just bought the used tank in the first place.[QUOTE]Originally posted by plastex: |
