Wilwood Brakes

Does anyone have any experience with Wilwood brakes?

Was looking at them as a interim system for those of us who cannot afford a set of "Big Reds"...

Their adverts look nice and the weight is right. Not sure on the price and selection of pads, esp for street/autocross use.

thx,

JA

I haven't installed the Wilwoods (yet)-but after I get my project back on the road and have a few autocrosses under it's belt, I may decide I need better braking-then I'll probably go ahead and install 4 of the Dynalite II's- less tha 5 lbs each, 4 stainless pistons, plus they could almost be confused for Big Reds back behind the wheels-and all this for only about $100 each-hell of deal, even if I have to get custom mounting brackets made.

The Wilwoods are just what you get for the money. They cost(the IIa's) $ 142 each. They rattle when drivng down the road and offer a poor seclection of pads. There are some areas where a person can cut corners and brake calipers in not one of them. If you need to run 15" wheels, buy the early 930 brakes if you are running 16" wheels go for the newer stuff.

Buy dash covers if you want, but buy good brakes. At least something equal to Porsche remeber thats why you bought the car.

Why do you think you need better brakes? Give specific reasons, not just "I want to stop faster". My opinion is the Porsche brakes are good enough for all but serious competition driving and only when you have installed bigger and stickier tires.
