sc plug wires

i have read that the ground braid is really not necessary on sc plug wires, any comments?

that is correct. my new wires have no braid and have no radio EMI/RFI noise. 81'SC

i thought the ground was to eliminate backfiring so the air box would not be damaged.???

Just changed mine yeaterday. Purchased 15.00 worth of 7mm stainless steeel ignition wire and reused the ends of the existing cable. Took off the steel braiding too. Runs great! And I saved about $235.00 by for investing a couple hours of time.
