Need help assembling my first motor
 

I just bought a 2.4T motor without a crank &
bearings, with an xtra set of 2.7 jugs & pistons. I have a few question to help get me started. this motor wil replace my 2.2t

-where can I buy used parts at good prices.
-one of the jugs is scored but the other ones are in good shape,can one be bored over or do I have to do them all? I think .010 to .020 will do it.
-will the bosh distributor fit my 2.2 for now.

There will be many more postings for your help but this will help me get started. I've done harley motors before but never one of these.

Yes, the 2.4 Bosch distributor will work on your 2.2T perfectly, just leave the vacuum retard diaphram unconnected or cap it, and set your ignition timing to 33-35 degrees BTDC as before.

The aluminum 2.7 cylinders cannot be bored. If they are Nikasil made by Mahle they can be honed and re-ringed. Alusil cylinders by KS or Kolbenschmidt are of questionable value, except as paperweights or bookshelf ornaments. If you can post a pic of the 2.7 piston (side view where wrist-pin is secured) or send by email, it can be identified as Mahle or KS.

Was this an MFI engine, i.e., do the heads have threaded ports for injectors? Does the 2.4 crankcase casting number end in 5R or 7R?

BTW, that 33-35 deg. Before Top Dead Center that Warren quoted is at 6000 RPM. Just in case you didn't know. ( wouldn't want you destroying your engine from overadvanced timing)
