Occidental Petroleum (my employer) actually Prison Camp: Non-Porsche flame.
Some bozos opened viruses from the Pop3 access using HTTP Yahoo. They blasted the company (but not my department). Email down for a week.
Answer: Take away all external email access e.g. Yahoo, MSN etc. We got a memo, saying we may only use our outlook Oxy mail, but we got a followup memo saying, any and all Oxy Outlook mail will be read for security. So, no private email. That's nice. What's more, they had already disabled our control panels. I can't even adjust the resolution on my screen, and I'm a well salaried, non-peon programmer. To get my resolution to 800x600 so I could ensure some HTML pages lined up properly for all users, I had to Call the help desk in Texas and have them give me permissions. For this boot cycle, I have full access to MY Control panel. When I reboot however, I'll lose those permissions, and no longer be able to modify anything. Thus, I will NEVER reboot my computer. I prefer to be able to adjust my goddamned desktop. If it hangs, it will stay hung, and I will stare at it all day, typing, but enjoying my 1000+ resolution. I will not be denied. Sorry you have to put up with all that B.S. BUT when you are denied to PELICAN now we have a problem,and a big one, must of us harcore porsche owners visit this site daily, i do 10 times a day and I am 3,000 miles away in central america working ,all along with the company laptop,this board is part of my life so if you have to purchase your own pc go for......
